  About John Smith
Accredited Counsellor,Psychotherapist and Training Consultant
A Graduate of UCD and of the Tivoli Institute where he completed his three year professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, he also holds a Diploma in Integrative Clinical Supervision from Institute of Creative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
John has trained at the Rutland Addiction Treatment Centre, where he completed his Internship as an Addiction Therapist and Group Facilitator.
He is an accredited Member of the three main Irish associations covering Alcohol and Addiction Counselling (IAAAC), General Counselling (IACP) and Psychotherapy (IAHIP) He is also an Accredited Supervisor with IAAAC and an Accredited Supvisor with IAHIP. John is also a listed therapist with the Centre for Sexual Addictions in Ireland, and works with clients struggling with compulsive behaviours in this area and holds a PCI college Cert in sexual addiction counselling.


In addition to his practice where he works on a wide range of issues (including addictions, health issues, personal/relationships, co-dependency issues, anxiety, stress, anger, assertiveness, anticipated loss, grief, trauma, loneliness, self-esteem, change and uncertainty). John has gained a breadth of experience from working for five years with the Samaritans, dealing with all age groups.
He has considerable experience dealing with workplace issues within a time-pressured environment.
John's approach is person-centred, and integrated and adopts a cognitive and motivational, psychological perspective.
He also provides anger management / conflict resolution, effective communication and alcohol and drug awareness training programmes.
